Mission Statement
Our
aim is to provide training for students so that they may live
their life in continued health, safety, and without undue
fear of what others may think or do. Toward that end, we will
teach students to physically defend themselves and instill
a sense of responsibility and respect for themselves and those
around them.
Goals
At Rose and River
Martial Arts, our goals are to promote personal safety through
Physical Fitness, Physical Readiness, and Psychological Readiness
and to have fun doing it!
Physical
Fitness is
the ability to maintain a bodily condition with which you
are comfortable, and strive to help you in this area.
Physical
Readiness
is the ability to react to your surroundings with the knowledge
necessary to protect yourself and others.
Psychological
Readiness
is 1: the ability to judge situations and deal with them in
an appropriate manner quickly and without hesitation 2: the
ability to realize that not every situation can be within
your control and that this is the normal order of things,
no matter how well you are trained.
Self Defense
Poekoelan Tjimindie
Kung Fu is by any accounts a difficult art to learn, but through
practice, patience, perseverance and purity of heart and body
you can succeed.
The first 5-6 months
of any student's martial arts experience with us will be solely
self defense training. This ensures a firm grounding in the
basics of Poekoelan and of self defense before moving on to
some of the more traditional aspects of martial arts.
We encourage you
to to come and watch one of our Self Defense classes before
deciding if Poekoelan is the right style for you, however
due to limited space, we ask that you make an appointment
in advance.
